2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships

Incredible Feats of Strength

Mexico City, Mexico

The World Para Powerlifting Championships took place in Mexico City from 2-8 December 2017. Five world records were broken in the competition. China topped the medals table followed by Nigeria, Iran, Egypt and Mexico.

“World Para Powerlifting organised an amazing World Championships in Mexico City in December and we could not be happier with all the support from Eleiko before and during the event. The World Championships had to be postponed due to an earthquake near Mexico City in September and it posed us some uncertainties and difficulties. Fortunately we were able to organise the event as initially planned and it would not have been possible without the partnership with Eleiko. We take this opportunity to thank Eleiko once again for its commitment to development of Para powerlifting.”

Jorge Moreno, Head of World Para Powerlifting

The World Para Powerlifting Championships took place in Mexico City from 2-8 December 2017 and it was held together with the World Para Swimming Championships. It was the first time that two of the most important Para sport events took place in the same host city at the same time. Almost 400 athletes from 89 countries took part in the World Para Powerlifting Championships. Five world records were broken in the competition. China topped the medals table followed by Nigeria, Iran, Egypt and Mexico.

Eleiko worked closely with the organizing committee and World Para Powerlifting Organization to develop custom branding for the equipment. The team from Eleiko was onsite to oversee the installation of one complete competition set up, six warm-up stations and several training stations as well and provide support to the organizing committee.
